Robert Miller (C'50) was a standout on the football field for the Spartans. Miller helped the 1948 team to a conference championship with a perfect 5-0 record in the Iowa Conference. As a senior in 1949 he was named First Team All-IIAC halfback. Miller finished second in the IIAC in scoring as sophomore with 36 points and senior with 42 points.
