How much conditioning, skill, and desire does it take to compete in every football game during a college career? Ask Rick Anderson. He missed only two quarters of action in his four-year career, and those were due to an injury. Rick started in 35 games on the defensive squad as end, linebacker, or halfback. Defensive players are not usually the first to be recognized, but Rick was named to the All-Iowa Conference Football Team three years in a row (1963-65). He was also selected to the NAIA All-District Football Team after his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. In 1966, UD recognized Rick’s contributions and leadership by honoring him as the Senior Athlete of the Year.

Rick’s contributions counted off the field too. He was a D Club member, participated in the Business Club, and was the KUDD disk jockey. Rick is a member of the Phi Omicron Fraternity.

After graduation, Rick was commissioned in the United States Air Force. His contributions continue to his alma mater and to his community. In Moline, Ill., he has served on the Police and Fire Commission, on the Planning Commission, and twice as an Alderman.
