Luke Harwick and men's track & field thrower
Lucas Cummings each were named athletes of the week in their respective sports.
Harwick (Guttenberg, Iowa / Beckman Catholic) finished the Morningstar Masters tournament at four-under-par (-4) to finish in sole possession of fifth place, just two shots back of first place. The Spartans went on to tie for first place as a team at six-under-par (-6). The men's golf team also competed at the Forester Spring Invite over the past weekend and went on to finish in 3rd place as a team at one-over-par (+1). Harwick went even par the first day of the tournament and then turned in a four-under-par (-4) on the final day to finish two shots behind the leader at four under. Harwick has now earned back-to-back men's golfer of the week honors by the conference.
Cummings (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) earned men's field athlete of the week after throwing 59.61 meters in the hammer throw at the Meet of Champions, good for a second place finish out of 71 competitors in the event. His throw of 59.61 meters is now ranked No. 6 in Division III in the hammer throw. This is Cummings' first athlete of the week honor of his career.
