Spartans Offensive Attack Routs Beloit

Box Score BELOIT, Wis. - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team finished up their non-conference schedule tonight as they headed to Beloit College to take on the Buccaneers. The Spartans came into tonight's game with a record of 3-6 and were looking to cap off the non-conference schedule with a win. The Spartan offense exploded tonight scoring 19 goals in rout to a 19-0 victory over the Buccaneers on their home field.

Coming into tonight's contest with Beloit, the Spartans highest scoring game would be 15 goals which was last Saturday against Edgewood College. Tonight the Spartans found the back of the net 15 times in the first half alone. The Spartans offensive pace slowed down in the second half scoring four more times in rout to a dominating shut out performance by the Spartans. 

Throughout the game, 10 Spartans were able to score led by Aidan Culligan and Ben Farraday who each scored four times. Giovanni Silva contributed three goals as well as a game-high four assists. Not only was the offense stellar, the defense managed to allow only five shots and forced 43 Buccaneer turnovers throughout the game. The Spartans collected 68 ground balls and won 20-23 face off opportunities. Ryan Gartner got the win in what was a quiet night for him as he didn't record a save in one half of action. Ethan Maurisak played the second half recording three saves.

The Spartans close out the non-conference winning two in a row and three of their last four contests moving to 4-6 on the season. They will be looking forward to Midwest Lacrosse Conference action when they take on North Central University (MN) on Saturday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m. in Minneapolis, MN.
