Men's Lacrosse Closes Out Season With Dominant Win Over Cornell; Johnson Records 100th Career Point

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team closed out the 2026 season on Wednesday night at Oyen Field with a dominant 19-5 win over the Cornell College Rams. Senior midfielder Tyler Johnson recorded his 100th career point tonight on an assist in the fourth quarter.

The Spartans did most of their damage in the first quarter tonight, scoring nine goals. After leading 13-1 at halftime, the Spartans were able to play to their own pace for the rest of the game, finishing with a 19-5 win.

Five Spartans scored multiple goals tonight and were led by Nate Richardson and Cambell Smith with five goals and two assists each. Johnson finished with three goals and two assists, and in the final game of his collegiate career was able to eclipse 100 career points off an assist with 8:58 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Peter Schiess closed out his collegiate career with a four-point game, scoring three goals and dishing out an assist. Nolan Dimitri scored twice, and Joe Cressy found the back of the net in his final game as a Spartan in the closing minutes of the game off an assist from fellow senior Tommy Shelby.

On the defensive end, Beckett Mull, Matthew Wright, and Logan Ehle all had four caused turnovers. Gavin Flattery added three caused turnovers as the Spartans finished with 18 total caused turnovers on the defensive side of the field.

Nolan Nagy concluded his career tonight with an 11-save performance for his 26th win of his career.

The Spartans finished in a three-way tie in the 7th through 9th spots in the standings. Eight teams make the conference tournament, but due to tiebreakers, the Spartans were the team left out of the postseason.

The Spartans conclude the 2026 season with a 6-10 overall record and a 4-7 conference record.
