Box Score AURORA, Ill. - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team had their first road match-up of the early 2022 season as they took on Aurora University. The Spartans would fall behind early in the first period and would be unable to score enough offensively to make a comeback and lost to Aurora University 15-3.
The Spartans would fall behind 5-0 in the first half before
Tyler Phipps would get the Spartans on the board to make it 5-1 Aurora. Aurora would manage to add two more goals before halftime and lead 7-1 at the break. The Aurora offense found ways to surge in the second half taking a 13-1 lead halfway through the 4th quarter. The Spartans would find the net twice in the 4th as
Parker Hahne and
Ben Farraday each added a goal. Spartans struggled to find the net the rest of the way.
The Spartans collected 22 ground balls and were successful on 13 of 26 clears. The offensive attack for the Spartans compiled 25 shots in the loss.
Tyler Phipps led the Spartans with six shots and
Ben Farraday and
Zach Schmitt each had five.
Ryan Gartner collected 15 saves in goal for the Spartans.

The Spartans are on the road again next week at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill. for a non-conference match-up. The game is scheduled for Thursday, March 3 at 4:30 p.m.
