LAKE GENEVA, Wis. - The University of Dubuque men's golf team finished the 36-hole Como Crossings Intercollegiate with a team score of 599 (+23) to tie for first place, but lost the tiebreaker via the fifth golfer. John Dobbe dominated the individual leaderboard with a scorecard of 138 (-6) to win medalist honors.

Dobbe had a fantastic 36 holes on the Hawks View Golf Course, finishing with seven birdies and just a single bogey to finish as the only individual in the field under par. The senior won the tournament by six strokes.

Bob Ryan had the second-highest scorecard of the day, starting the tournament just one over par through the first 18 holes before finishing eight over par and a 19th-place finish. Bock Mueller carded a nine-over-par score that included six birdies. Mueller's second round moved him up to finish 20th.

Tyson Malak finished tied for 27th after scoring +12, while Hunter Polley finished tied for 51st at +19. Drew Aschliman was the individual golfer for the Spartans today, scoring +17 and a 48th-place finish.

"John's play today was outstanding, and to have seven birdies and only one bogey around this course was impressive. Just really proud of the player he has turned into over the last couple of years. The back of this team needs to start to finish their rounds off going forward if we want to start winning golf tournaments. We had six double bogeys over our last nine holes; we need to clean that up moving forward."
