Box Score 2 DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team split on Saturday against the Cornell College Rams, losing game one 5-4 and then winning 5-4 in the nightcap. UD scored four runs off of seven hits as Cornell College grabbed five runs off seven hits. Both teams played errorless. In the second game, UD scored five runs off 12 hits and committed two errors while the Rams scored four runs off just four hits in the loss.
Peyton Santore went 2-3, stole two bases, and scored a run and
Zoe Connell went 2-3 at the plate with two RBI's and the team's only double.
Anna Luczak was 1-4 and compiled two RBI's.
Adalynn Ridgeway ended with four of the team's seven left on bases.
Ciaran Rigby pitched the complete seven inning game, allowed seven hits, five earned runs, and struck out eight of the 30 batters faced.
In game two,
Megan Leick went 3-4 at the plate, scored two runs, had two RBI's and finished with a double and a triple for the Spartans. A trio of Spartans finished with two hits.
Kaitlyn Powell was 2-4 with a run scored,
Lauren Jacobs was 2-4, and
Amber Wisely was 2-2 with two RBI's and a run scored.
Zoe Connell was 1-3 with a triple.
Anna Luczak and
Adalynn Ridgeway both were left on base three times each in the win.
Ashlyn Short improved to 6-0 with a complete seven inning game. She allowed four hits and just one earned run after facing 31 batters.
The Spartans (13-5 overall) will play at UW-La Crosse in a doubleheader on Monday, March 30 beginning at 3:00 p.m. The Spartans return home to host a doubleheader against the Luther College Norse on Wednesday, April 1 (Teacher Appreciation Day) on the UD Softball Field beginning at 2:00 p.m. UD will travel down highway 20 to play doubleheader in Storm Lake, Iowa vs. the Buena Vista University Beavers on Saturday, April 4 beginning at 1:00 p.m. UD will face the #13-ranked Simpson College Storm in Indianola, Iowa on April 7 beginning at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 11 the Spartans host the Loras College Duhawks in a doubleheader on NFCA Strikeout Cancer Day and UD Alumni Day beginning at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, April 12 the Spartans return to the road to play #20-ranked Central College Dutch in Pella, Iowa with doubleheader scheduled for 1:00 p.m.Â
