PELLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team finished their season on the road at the Central College Dutch. The Spartans lost game one 5-3 and lost game two 12-4 in five innings. The Spartans began the season on a 5-0 start and ended the year with a 17-21 overall record and a 3-13 American Rivers Conference finish in eighth place.
Senior
Kaitlyn Powell led the Spartans offense with a .385 batting percentage, a team high 47 hits (7th all-time), 70 total bases (tied for 7th all-time), and an on base percentage of .483 (tied for 5th all-time). She is also the all-time hits leader with 174 in her career.
Lauren Jacobs led UD with a team high 26 RBI's, eight doubles, and six triples. Defensively
Anna Luczak led the squad with 179 putouts and nine assisted putouts at first base and committed just three errors (.984%). UD ended with a hitting percentage of .285, on base percentage of .387, 146 RBI's, five home runs, 19 triples, 51 doubles and 291 total hits in 1020 at bats.
The four Spartans pitchers finished with a team ERA of .419, tossed 25 complete games and three shutouts. Senior
Ciaran Rigby led UD with 100.1 innings pitched, 48 strikeouts, and an ERA of 4.95 and a record of 5-10. Senior
Miranda Saylor threw 16.1 innings and finished with a 2-1 mark with an ERA of 2.57. A pair of freshmen pitchers
Ashlyn Short and
Skylar Zoeteman combined for 69 strikeouts and a 10-10 record. Zoeteman (3.14 ERA) finished with 49 innings, 26 strikeouts, 17 walks, and 43 hits and a record of 3-3. Short (4.20 ERA) had a record of 7-7, struck out 43, walked 37 batters in 83.1 innings, and allowed 100 hits.
The Spartans will now prepare for finals this week and will wait for the 2026 All-Conference Team list in the next couple of weeks.
