CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) announced its weekly conference athletes of the week on Monday afternoon. From the University of Dubuque softball team,
Kaitlyn Powell was named the Female Athlete of the Week. It was a record-setting weekend for Powell as she grabbed the UD career record in both hits (150) and triples (11) with well over half the season remaining.
Powell (Blue Grass, Iowa / Davenport West) over a two-doubleheader matchups against Beloit (Wisc.) and Blackburn (Ill.) went 10 of 14 at bat (.714) and hit for five RBI, three doubles, three triples and a homerun. She also walked four times and scored nine runs.
In game one against Beloit, Powell broke the career hits record, which had stood at 146 and stood since 2014. In the second game against Beloit, Powell set the triples record with two in the match, breaking the record of 10, which had stood since 1997.Â
