CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's cross country team got their first taste of competition on Friday night with a 5k course at the 3rd annual Mount Mercy Corridor XC Clash. The Spartans saw two top 10 finishers as
Anthony Carney Jr. and
John Innamorato led the Spartans to a 3rd place team finish with 59 total points.
Sophomore,
Anthony Carney Jr. was the first Spartan to cross the finish line in a time of 15:51.7. Carney Jr. averaged a 5:06 mile on his way to his sixth place finish.
John Innamorato was right behind in eighth place with a total 5k time of 15:54.7. Rounding out the top five for the Spartans was
Joey Wohlers in 12th (16:13.6),
Trentyn Gilges in 17th (16:24.7), and
Aiden Mohr in 18th (16:25.4). Mohr competed in his first collegiate race Friday night and contributed in a big way influencing the teams point total. There were a total of 19 Spartans competing out of 95 total runners.

The Spartans will run at the Luther College All-American Invitational next weekend on Saturday, September 9. The men's race will start at 12:15 p.m.
