DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's cross country team opened up their season hosting the UD Spartan Igniter at the Dubuque Soccer Complex with visiting teams Coe College, Clarke University, Emmaus Bible College participating in the meet on Thursday afternoon. Finishing with eight runners in the top 20, the Spartans finished second out of the four teams competing with 40 team points. Clarke eclipsed the Spartans by three points. Ten Spartans ran the course on Thursday afternoon.
Second-year runner,
Riley Roman led the pace for the Spartans as she finished fourth in a time of 21:51.09. Kianna Vogel found herself in seventh place in her opening race as a Spartan running 22:21.95.
Taylor Barber rounded out the top 10 finishing in a time of 23:35.13.Â
