WAVERLY, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's cross country team opened the 2025 season at the Wartburg College John Kurtt Invitational on Saturday morning. The Spartans had two top 20 finishers in the 5k race, along with three personal record performances.
Kiana Vogel was the top Spartan finisher today, coming in as the first non-Wartburg finisher with a 12th place finish. Vogel ran 19:27.2, smashing her previous personal best by nearly a minute and a half.
Dede Davis ran a time of 20:02.0 to record a top 20 finish to start the season.
Jaide Flowers recorded a new personal best, running 20:58.7 as she was able to place 26th.
Mackenzie Rader ran 21:28.9, while
Alexia Pecora crossed the finish line at 22:05.5.
Ali Simmons was the third Spartan to record a personal best time today, running 23:10.1.
The Spartans finsihed third in the team race with 72 total points.Â

The Spartans will compete in the Illinois State Redbird Invite on September 12 in Normal, Illinois. The race will start at 6:00 p.m.
