PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Dubuque men's track & field team opened up final qualifier weekend at UW-Platteville on Friday as the Spartans look to improve their times and marks to head to the NCAA Indoor Championships next weekend.
Dakota Hoffman improved his best shot put toss on Friday, throwing 17.00 meters which would move him from 26th in the country to 15th pending other results around the country.
In the weight throw,
Lucas Cummings won the event with a toss of 18.28 meters. His season-best time of 19.03 meters is still 10th in the country. Hoffman and
Wyatt Kocurek finsihed second and third in the weight throw to have all Spartans in the top three.
Other top finishers included
Alec Zaccaria (23.18) with a second place finish in the 200 meters, while
Jaxon Sander (53.54) had a third place finish in the 400 meters. Brain Woehrle rounded out the top three finishers for the Spartans with a 2:01.58 time in the 800 meters.
The Spartans will compete tomorrow in the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier starting at Noon.
