LA CROSSE, Wis. - The University of Dubuque's track and field teams traveled up north into Wisconsin on Friday to compete at the Uncaged Eagle Open. With the NCAA Outdoor Championships approaching, multiple Spartans posted strong performances to improve their chances of qualifying.
On the women's team, Jaden Hardison takes her fourth high jump title of the season, clearing a mark of 1.68 meters. Hardison's mark of 1.71 meter ealrier in the season has her tied for seventh in Division III. Nai'lah Anders took second in the discus throw with a 45.91-meter mark; her 46.28-meter mark from the A-R-C Championships has her 12th in Division III.
Cailey Peterson placed fifth in the pole vault, clearing 3.95 meters. The mark ties her personal best and places her ninth in Division III in the pole vault. Ashley Glennon placed third at the meet in the Javelin throw with a 41.81-meter mark; Glennon currently holds the ninth-best throw in Division III. Breen Duffy finished in fourth at the Open with her hammer throw of 53.91 meters, which is a top 10 mark in Division III, where Duffy sits sixth with a 54.76 meter throw earlier in the year.
On the men's team, Lucas Cummings had a huge outing with a personal best hammer throw of 61.60 meters, which firmly places him with the third-best mark in Division III this season. Anthony Carney Jr. also had an incredible day in the steeplechase, finding himself sub-nine minutes. Carney ran an 8:58.68. The mark improves Carney's Division III standing from 13th best to 8th best time this season in the steeplechase.
In the triple jump, Akim Baba Traore finished fifth with a mark of 14.05 meters. Zach Sanford and Kaden Miller both place seventh in their respective throwing events, Sanford with 49.25 meters in the discus and Miller with 47.87 meters in the javelin.

The Spartans will have one last go before the NCAA Outdoor Championships that start on May 21. The Track and field team will travel to Rock Island, Ill., to compete at the Augustana Final Qualifier. The meet will begin on Wednesday, May 13, at the Knowlton Outdoor Athletics Complex, hosted by Augustana College.
