PELLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's track and field team began the American Rivers Conference Track and Field Championship with a fourth-place standing, sitting with 54 points after day two. The Spartans had five finish in the top three of their events and one runner-up. Additionally, both runners qualified for the finals of the 200-meter, 400-meter, and 800-meter events.
In the field events on Friday, three Spartans finished in the top five of the discus, with Joe Boge earning eight points with a second-place finish. Zach Sanford and Dakota Hoffman each finished top three, earning all-conference honors in the discus and shot put, respectively.
In the track events, Jaberrius Peake took the top spot in the prelims of the 400 meters with a time of 48.03, also qualifying in the 200 meters with the second-best time. Evan Robertson ran a 1:54.91 in the 800 meters to qualify for the finals with the second-best time. Anthony Carney Jr. earned all-conference honors in the steeplechase with a time of 9:03.19.
Peake and Robertson will compete in the finals of their track events tomorrow.
