CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) announced their weekly conference athletes of the week on Monday afternoon. After a dominating weekend at the A-R-C Indoor Track & Field Championships,
Jaberrius Peake was named A-R-C Male Athlete of the Week as well as the conference track performer of the week.
Peake (Clanton, Ala. / Chilton County) was named A-R-C Track Most Valuable Performer on Saturday after a stellar day on the track. Peake won his first indoor conference title in the 400 meters with a season best time of 49.03 seconds. He later was conference runner-up in the 200 meters with a time of 22.03 seconds, also a season best. In the 60 meter dash final Peake finished in seventh-place with a sub-7 second run of 6.99 seconds.
Capping off his Saturday performances, Peake was part of the Spartans all-conference third place finish in the 4x400 meter relay. The quartet ran a season-best time of 3:22.28.
This is Peake's first conference athlete of the week honor in his career for the Spartans.
