DECORAH, Iowa - The American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Indoor Track & Field Championships began on Friday at the indoor track on the campus of Luther College.
Dakota Hoffman was runner-up in the shot put, highlighting the men's track & field team on day one.
Hoffman finished runner-up in the shot put after his final toss of the day went 16.56 meters. That throw is a season-best for Hoffman and now ranks No. 23 in Division III. Hoffman is now a three-time indoor conference runner up in the shot put.
Anthony Carney Jr. ran a season best 14:46.90 in the 5,000 meters to finish fourth, about two seconds from all-conference honors.
Jaberrius Peake ran 6.95 seconds in the 60 meter dash prelims to qualify for finals tomorrow with the fifth best time in the event.
Braden Troeger finished with a personal best pole vault of 4.26 meters to come away with a fifth place finish.
The Spartans currently sit in fifth with 22 team points through five scored events on Friday.
The final day of the indoor conference championships will take place tomorrow as the Spartans will look to crown a few more conference champions and all-conference performers starting at 10:00 a.m.
