INDIANOLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's wrestling sit in fifth place overall at the 2026 NCAA Region V Qualifier with 37.5 points in the opening day. The Spartans advanced three individuals into the semifinals and have three more in the consolation brackets. The #1 seeded
Shea Reisel is in the championship semifinals at 117 lbs. She will face Sereena Baca of Quincy University in the next round to reach the championship finals. The #3 seed
Alex Hofrichter is also in the semifinals after a quick fall and a tech fall in the 160 lbs. weight class. She will wrestle the #2 seed Keeley Kehrli of Simpson College to reach the championship match. The #5 seed of
Merin Yates won by a tech. fall and a decision to reach the semifinals of the 180 lbs. weight class. She will face the #1 seed Kylie Walker of the University of Iowa to reach the championship match.
In the wrestlebacks on Saturday, #7 seed
Bree Swenson (124 lbs.) will face #3 seed Sophie Bowers of Wartburg College. The #8 seed
Mattie Papenthien at 138 lbs. will face #5 seed Cadie Percy of UW-Stevens Point. The #6 seed
Tatum Levendahl will battle unseeded Sierra Pienkowski of Carthage College in the 145 lbs. match.
In each weight class, the top three wrestlers from the regional tournaments will secure their places in the 2026 National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships scheduled for March 6-7 at the Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa. This historic event marks the first official NCAA-sponsored championship for women's wrestling, featuring 10 weight classes with 180 total competitors from Divisions I, II, and III.
