Grady Thompson was named to the Bevo Francis Award Top-100 List on Thursday, January 15. The National Awards Committee and Small College Basketball announced the Top 100 Watch List that consists of some of the top players from NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA.
The Clarence "Bevo" Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball. Considerations will be season statistics and individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements. This is an incredibly prestigious award, as this award will only be given to one player within Small College Basketball per season.
Through 12 games this season, Thompson is averaging a team-high 19.1ppg and 6.8rpg and 25 made three-pointers. The junior is shooting 39.9% from the field, while recording 19 assists, 16 steals, and three blocks. Thompson is having a career-year and has already garnered two men's basketball athlete of the week honors from the American Rivers Conference. The Princeton, Ill. native is the only A-R-C men's basketball player to be listed on the Top 100 list.
On February 15th, the list will be reduced to the Top 50 players. One month later on March 15th, the Top 25 players will be announced. The finalists and Bevo Francis Award winner announcement release date is TBD. More information will be available in the coming months.
