INDIANOLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque Track & Field teams opened up Day One A-R-C Outdoor Track & Field Championships with the four multi-event athletes representing the Spartans. The women's team had Victoria Zoltowska, Olga Filipovic, and Taylor Martin competing in the heptathlon, while the men's team was represented by Ryker Strong in the decathlon. 

Day One of the heptathlon saw seven personal best on the day between Victoria Zoltowska, Olga Filipovic, and Taylor Martin. After four of seven events, Zoltowska is currently in third overall after day one with 2,464 points with a personal best in the 100 meter hurdles. Taylor Martin sits ninth overall with 2,067 points with personal bests in the 100 meter hurdles, 200 meter dash, and the shot put. Olga Filipovic sits 11th with 2,016 points also with personal bests in the 100 meter hurdles, 200 meter dash, and the shot put. 

In the decathlon, Ryker Strong represents the men's team in the ten event combined competition. He currently sits fourth place after day one with 3,377 points after five out of ten events. Strong was able to get new personal best marks in the 100 meter dash, 400 meter dash, and the shot put.

The heptathlon and decathlon concludes tomorrow May 9 at 10:00 a.m. The rest of the Spartan Track & Field teams will be in action from Simpson College for the first day of open running event prelims beginning at 3:00 p.m. with the 400m dash. Scheduled field events begin at 1:00 p.m. with the men's discus, women's high jump, and men's long jump.
