DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's track and field team opened up the outdoor season by hosting the Mississippi River Rumble at Douglas J. Miller Outdoor Track on Saturday. The Spartans came out on top of the team standings placing first out of five teams by scoring 264.5 team points. There were seven event winners on the day as
Jaylen Bell (100 Meter Dash),
Otis Patterson (200 Meter Dash), Trentyn Gigles (3,000 Meter Steeplechase),
Jakhari Anderson (Triple Jump),
Zach Steffensen (Hammer Throw), and
Jacob Edwards (Shot Put and Discus) all won their respective events.
Jaylen Bell opened his season senior in the 100 with an impressive opening time of 10.70.
Otis Patterson continued his track dominance by winning the 200 Meter Dash. The A-R-C Indoor Championships MVP opened his outdoor season with a time of 21.79 to win the 200m dash.
Trentyn Gilges opened his steeplechase season by winning the event by running a 9:56.30.
Jakhari Anderson won the triple jump by leaping a mark of 13.81m.
Zach Steffensen opened his outdoor season by winning the hammer throw with a throw of 57.87m.
Jacob Edwards won both the discus and shot put events to open his outdoor season. Edwards through a mark of 49.42m iin the discus, and 16.75m in the shot put to claim both victories.
