WAVERLY, Iowa – The University of Dubuque men's track and field team kicked off the opening day of the American Rivers Conference Indoor Championships. The Spartans competed in seven events on day one and currently sit third in the team standings with 35 points.
Two all-conference performances came from shot put as both Dakota Hoffman and Jacob Edwards finished runner-up and third place respectively. Hoffman launched a new personal best of 17.14 meters en route to a runner-up finish and Edwards finished third in the event with a throw of 17.06 meters. In the long jump, Otis Patterson pulled off an upset in the long jump coming in seeded sixth and leaving with a third-place finish to earn All-Conference honors in the event.
