CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) cross country championships took center stage at Seminole Valley Park where the University of Dubuque men's cross country team had their highest finish since 1979 with a third place finish with 112 team points.
The Spartans had numerous all-time top 10 times, but none were bigger than the 24:57.1 time from
Anthony Carney Jr. who finished as an all-conference runner with a ninth place finish. This was Carney Jr.'s first time being an all-conference runner in his career. He was just six seconds from breaking the 8k all-time record at UD.
The Spartans had six runners finish in the top 50, as
Aiden Mohr finished 34th with a time of 25:41.1, followed by
Trentyn Gilges in 40th (25:48.8),
Calvin Richey cross the line with a 43rd place finish (25:51.2),
Joey Wohlers in 45th (25:54.8), and
Andrew Hutchinson finished 49th in 26:02.8.
Besides the addition of Mohr, the Spartans finished with the same team that finsihed tied for last just two seasons ago. Head coach,
Rich Maleniak mentioned that he was "proud of the work the guys put in to make the jump that they did."

The Spartans will compete in the NCAA Midwest Region Championships on Saturday, November 16. The host site will be in Rock Island, Ill. at the Saukie Golf Course. Start time will be at 12:00 p.m.
