CUBA CITY, Wis. - The University of Dubuque cross country teams competed on Saturday in the UW-Platteville Pioneer Gender Equity Invite. The invite took place at Cole Acres Golf Course in Cuba City, Wis. The men's team finished fourth with a bunch of very good times and the women had a few key runners absent, but was able to run against top competition.
Joey Wohlers was the first men's runner to finish after running 26:13.0 to finish seventh. Wohlers improved his time by 1:22 from a season ago and edged his name to #6 all-time in school history in the 8k.
Anthony Carney Jr. finished 13th for the Spartans in 26:25.8. Carney improved by 3:14 from last season's meet and made a new lifetime best 8k time by over two minutes. His time marked the 12th fastest 8k in school history.
John Innamorato finished 18th and improved his best time by 1:24 and secured his name #18 all-time in the 8k.
Calvin Richey and
Trentyn Gilges each improved their times from this meet a season ago by about a minute each.
On the women's side, three of the top five runners were absent due to a prior commitment through ROTC and one was out due to injury.
Alli Gonnella was the top finisher for the Spartans and
Emma Lundquist had well over a minute improvement on this course from a season ago.
