2022-23 Men's Indoor Track & Field Season Preview

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque men's track and field team is coming off a third-place finish in the A-R-C Indoor Track & Field Championships a season ago as they return many key contributors across the board looking to build off momentum. 

Junior, JoJo Frost returns as a top scorer for the Spartans in the 60m, 200m, 400m, and was a member of the All-American seventh place finish 4x400 team. Frost finished as an All-American in the 400m dash final with a third-place finish at the 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Other members returning from the 4x400m relay team include Kobe Howell and Nehemiah Griffin. Graduate Student, Jeremiah Steed was a part of the relay team, but he returns with no indoor season eligibility left. Steed will return for his final outdoor season later in the Spring. Howell also finished fifth at last year's A-R-C Indoor 400m dash.

Senior, Cade Collier returns as the leading thrower for the Spartans with an A-R-C Indoor Championship in the weight throw and runner-up in the shot put. Collier finished ninth in the NCAA Indoor Championships in the shot put.

Jakhari Anderson and Rei'Shaun Spires return as triple jump scorer's in the A-R-C. Blake Hardison is an A-R-C scorer in the 60m hurdles and qualified for the NCAA's in the event. Andrew Hutchinson returns in the 800m run from where he finished sixth at the A-R-C Indoor Championships.

The University of Dubuque men's track and field team opens their 2022-23 indoor track and field season on Friday, January 20 in the Larry Wieczorek Invitational at the University of Iowa starting at 10:00 a.m. The Spartans will then host their first home meet the following day at the University of Dubuque Kenneth "Moco" Mercer Open on A.Y. McDonald Indoor Track.

The Spartans will host three of their first six indoor meets with the Kenneth "Moco Mercer Open this weekend followed by the Spartans Invite on January 28 and the annual Solomon W. Butler Classic on February 17. The Spartans will travel to UW-La Crosse on Feb. 4 as well as UW-Platteville on February 11. The 2023 American Rivers Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships will take place at Buena Vista University on February 24-25 in the Lamberti Recreation Center & Dennis Young Track. The Spartans will have a final chance to improve their times at the Wartburg Final Qualifier on March 4 before the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships take center stage on March 10-11 in Birmingham, Ala.
