DES MOINES, Iowa - Nine Spartans from the University of Dubuque's track & field team competed at the Drake Relays this week. Starting on Thursday, UD had competitors each of the final three days.
On Thursday, Anthony Carney Jr. and Trentyn Gilges both took part in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Carney placed 13th with a time of 9:25.86 and Gilges finished in 19 with his time of 9:41.64.
On Friday, Chloe Reiser and Dakota Hoffman both competed in the shot put, finishing 16th in their respective fields. Reiser hit a mark of 12.91 meters and Hoffman reached a mark of 15.96 meters, both with three attempts. Jaide Flowers was the lone track runner on Friday for the Spartans. She finished 11th with a time of 55.57 to set a new personal record.
Saturday, Ashley Glennon and Jaden Hardison were the two Spartans competing at Drake. Glennon took 12th in the javelin throw with a mark of 40.60 meters, Hardison tied for fifth in a five-way tie after she reached a height of 1.66 meters in the high jump.

The Spartans track and field teams will next compete at the A-R-C Outdoor Championships, hosted this year by Central College. The dates for the championships are April 30 - May 2 and will be in Pella, Iowa at the H.S. Kuyper Fieldhouse.
