CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The University of Dubuque Track and Field team traveled to Coe College on Wednesday to compete at the Rittgers Invitational. The Spartans took first place in seven events in Cedar Rapids. 

On the men's side, the Spartans swept the relay events with a time of 41.90 in the 4x100 with the team consisting of Richard Pierce, Jaberrius Peake, Matt Haerle and Alec Zaccaria. In the 4x400, the team was Matt Haerle, Kaden Miller, Kali Freeman and Jaberrius Peake as they ran a 3:21.06. 

In the individual events, Christian Jaimes earned his second first-place finish of the outdoor season in the high jump with a 1.95-meter mark. In the javelin throw, it was Kaden Miller taking the top spot on the podium with a mark of 52.39 meters, setting his personal best throw. On the track, Evan Robertson ran off with the 800-meter title with a personal best time of 1:55.90. 

On the women's side, the Spartans finished in first in two throwing events, the shot put and the discus throw. In the shot put, Chloe Reiser had a mark of 13.50 meters in a field of 26 other competitors. Nai'lah Anders in the discus outperformed 21 other throwers while being the only one to throw for over 40 meters with a mark of 43.10.

The Spartans track teams will have individuals competing this week at the Drake Relays and Kip Janvrin Open. Nine Spartans will compete at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, with the first two set to start Thursday, April 23, and more to follow on Friday and Saturday. The Kip Janvrin will be held on Friday, April 24, at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.
