WAVERLY, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's golf team picked up another team championship and medalist honors at the Wartburg Fall Invite on Sunday. The Spartans shot a 623 as a team to win by 23 strokes and
Daniela Miranda finished with a 152 (+8) to take home medalist honors by three strokes.
Senior
Daniela Miranda paced the Spartans from start to finish this weekend and came away with her fourth career medalist honors after posting a two-round score of 152 (+8). After taking home medalist honors last weekend at the Luther Classic, freshman
Brooke Bunjes followed that up with an impressive third place finish after shooting a 156 (+12).
The Spartans had five top-10 placers on the weekend.
Madison Bowers followed Bunjes, tying for fourth place with a 157Â (+13) for her eighth career top-five finish.
Courtney Olson was consistent over the weekend with rounds of 78 and 80 for 158 (+14) to tie for sixth.
Sydney Killeen participated with the alternate Spartan team this weekend and fired a final round 77 to finish 15 over par, earning a ninth place finish.Â
Megan Gille rounded out the top Spartan squad, making sure all five Spartans earned top-20 finishes as Gilled shot rounds of 83 and 88 for a 171 (+27) to tie for 19th.
Following Killeen on the alternate UD squad was
Mary Edwards and
Madeline Sturm with finishes of t-13th and 15th for eight total UD placers in the top-20.
Sarah Fergus and
Kaylee O'Donnell filled out the alternate team with total scores of 174 (+30) and 197 (+53), respectively. The two UD players playing as individuals,
Sara Nerad and
Gianna Farinella both earned top-40 placings as Nerad tied for 27th after a weekend score of 178 (+34) and Farinella finished 36th with a 188 (+44).
