BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The No. 24 University of Dubuque women's volleyball team closed out the Illinois Wesleyan Classic with a 3-0 sweep over Monmouth College (25-21, 25-18, 25-12) before battling No. 8 Illinois Wesleyan in five sets (14-25, 26-28, 25-21, 25-20, 10-15). Following the weekend, Taylor Bechen was recognized as an Illinois Wesleyan Classic All-Tournament honoree. The Spartans finished the weekend with a 3-2 overall record.
The Spartans set the tone offensively against Monmouth, recording a total of 55 kills and hitting .310 as a team while limiting Monmouth to a .088 hitting percentage. Delainey Winkel finished with 17 kills and 11 digs, while Chloe Reiser added 16 kills with an impressive .448 hitting percentage. Alexis Kammerer finished with 44 assists to lead the offense, and Bechen led the defense with 32 digs.
UD closed out the tournament against No. 8 Illinois Wesleyan in a five-set match. After dropping the first two sets, the Spartans responded with back-to-back victories to force a deciding fifth set. Winkel led UD with 19 kills and 18 digs, while Halee Clare put together a strong performance with 13 kills on a .522 hitting percentage and seven total blocks. Kammerer added 48 assists and 16 digs, while Bechen finished with 26 digs.

The No. 24 Spartans (3-2) will travel to St. Paul, Minnesota, for the KTIS Classic beginning Friday, September 11. UD will open the tournament against California Lutheran at 1:00 p.m. before facing the University of Northwestern (Minn.) at 6:00 p.m.
