DUBUQUE, Iowa - The American Rivers Conference on Monday afternoon announced the weekly conference athletes of the week. University of Dubuque men's soccer goalkeeper Riley Johnson earned defensive athlete of the week honors, while football player Pato Marvite earned special teams player of the week honors.

Johnson (Lombard, Ill. / Willowbrook HS) led the Spartans to a 1-0-1 week on the road that featured a scoreless draw against Lake Forest College, the defending Midwest Conference champions. The Spartans then took care of business against Beloit College 4-1 on Sunday. Johnson came back from injury this week and was able to produce the first shutout of the season against a tough Lake Forest team by recording five saves in 90 minutes in goal. Against Beloit, Johnson had six saves and ended the week with 11 total saves on the week.

Marvite (Batavia, Ill. / Batavia HS) won football special teams player of the week after being a perfect 5-for-5 on extra points, and his kickoffs totaled 259 yards. On Marvite's final kickoff with 1:22 left in the game, he kicked an onside kick of 29 yards, which was recovered by UD to help clinch the Spartans' first win of the 2026 season.

Both Johnson and Marvite won their first conference athlete of the week honors in each of their respective careers.
