ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The University of Dubuque #24 ranked women's volleyball team opened their 2026 season with a quick sweep of the host Augusta College Vikings on Tuesday night by a 3-0 margin. The Spartans won the first set 25-19, Augue forced UD into extras in the second set, but the Spartans captured the tight match 29-27. UD took the match after earning the sweep with a 25-23 third set final score.
A trio of Spartans led the offense with pre-season pick
Delainey Winkel collecting a game high 14 kills and a hitting percentage of .289.
Chloe Reiser finished with nine kills and
Caitlin Jensen had eight kills in the victory.
Alexis Kammerer found the open hitter for a game high 34 set assists.
Taylor Bechen led the defensive digs with a game high 15, trailed closely by Winkel who grabbed 11 digs and Reiser with eight.
Julia Schultz served up a pair of service aces along with teammate Reiser.
UD (1-0 overall) will take their unbeaten streak to Illinois Wesleyan Classic this weekend when they face #17 Hope College on Friday, Sept. 4 at 4:30 p.m. The Spartans will play Hendrix College on Sept. 4 at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, UD will open with Monmouth College at 10:30 a.m. before facing the hosts #8 Illinois Wesleyan University at 1:00 p.m. All matches will be played at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Ill.
