PELLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's track and field team began the American Rivers Conference Track and Field Championship with a third-place standing, sitting with 37 points after day two. The Spartans had one Champion and two runner-ups on Friday.
Nai'lah Anders finished top of the podium in the discus throw with a mark of 46.28 meters, setting the ninth-best mark in Division III this season. Jaden Hardison took second in the high jump, getting over the 1.70 meter mark, and finishing runner-up on a tie-breaker. In the steeplechase, Dede Davis ran a time of 10.56.61 and earned the silver in the event. All three claimed all-conference honors with their performances.
In prelims, Cailey Peterson qualified for two finals, the 100-meter and 200-meter. Hardison qualified for the 100-meter, and Jaide Flowers had the second-best 200-meter time to claim her automatic spot after winning in her heat. Flowers also ran the fastest 400-meter time to make the finals of the event. Additionally, two Spartans, Mackenzie Rader and Kahlan Kearns, ran personal bests to each qualify for the finals of the 400-meter hurdles.
The five qualifiers will run in the finals of their respective track events tomorrow, on the final day of the A-R-C Championships.
