WAVERLY, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's golf team opened the Wartburg Spring Invite carding a 308 (+20) to sit in third place through 18 holes. On the individual leaderboard,
Leah Balsbaugh is tied for the lead with an even par round at the Prairie Links Golf & Events Center.
The Spartans sit five strokes back of No. 21 Grinnell College and No. 29 UW-Stout and will be chasing them the final 18 holes tomorrow.
Balsbaugh finished her opening round of the Wartburg Spring Invite with four birdies and four bogeys to finish even par. Balsbaugh was three under par through her first six holes today.
Gracie Russell is in 11th place at four over par with two birdies on the day.
Drew Hoffer scored a six over par scorecard to be tied for 14th, while
Kaycee Newman is eight over par and tied for 22nd.
Payton Morton is currently 10 over par in 31st place, and
Olivia Hines and
Megan Stephan are both 12 over par at the end of round one.
