ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The University of Dubuque men's and women's track teams wrapped up their weekend at the Meet of Champions Saturday night. Four Spartans took first place in their respective events.
On the women's side, Jaide Flowers and Breen Duffy finished first in the 100-meter and hammer throw, respectively. Flowers ran a time of 12.13, setting a personal best en route to taking the top spot on the podium. Duffy also set a new personal best to take the top spot at the meet with a throw of 51.79 meters.
Dede Davis had a great meet with a second-place finish in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:47.77 and a third-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:22.11. Also taking third-place finishes are Mackenzie Rader (400m, 1:00.89), Kahlan Kearns (400mH, 1:08.06), Cailey Peterson (PT, 3.75m) and Anna Bartels (Heptathlon, 3571).
On the men's side, Jaberrius Peake took his second consecutive 200-meter title with a run of 21.36. Anthony Carney Jr. grabbed first place in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:16.17. Christian Jaimes picked up another top-three finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.95 meters.
