Men's Basketball Has Cold Shooting Night in Loss to Kohawks

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team could not get shots to fall tonight in a 73-62 loss at home to the Coe College Kohawks.

The Spartans found themselves trailing early but were able to tie the game up at 7-all after an Ethan Henderson layup in transition. The Kohawks held the lead the remainder of the first half as the Spartans trailed by as many as eight, but cut the deficit to 30-26 at the half.

The Kohawks ended up building a double digit lead in the first five minutes of the second half. With the Spartans trailing by their largest deficit, they went to their bench and got good production out of freshmen Spencer Roeder, Drew Apiagyei, and Jayden Hunt as all three combined to go on a 10-0 that got the Spartans to within eight. Jacob Williams added onto the run to get to within six, but the Kohawks made a late push to get back above double digits for good.

Jacob Williams and Grady Thompson both finished in double figures with 15 and 14 points respectively. Williams had a team-high eight rebounds and four blocks. Henderson added nine points, while Roeder and Jalen Scott finished with six points each.

Hear from Robbie Sieverding
"We have really struggled at home this year in conference play and been great on the road. We just haven't shot the ball well at home and tonight it happened again. I love our team and we got enough talent to play better as a group. I'm looking forward to seeing how our guys respond."

The Spartans fall to 14-8 overall and 7-6 in conference play.
