Men's Basketball Lose to Storm on the Road

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque lost their third contest in a row after losing on Saturday on the road to the Simpson College Storm 79-66. The Spartans were led offensively by Grady Thompson who led the team with 17 points followed closely by Jalen Scott who had 16 points.

"We need to play better offensively as a group and finish around the rim better," added head coach Robbie Sieverding. "Spencer has given us some nice minutes of late, but we just can't seem to put together a solid 40 minutes."

The Spartans finished the afternoon sinking 22 of 61 shot attempts (36.1%) and sank seven of 22 three point field goal attempts (31.8%). UD trailed in rebounding 38-43. The Storm were 27-61 from the field (44.3%) and 12-28 from beyond the three point arc (42.9%). UD's bench added 20 points as the Spartans scored 30 points in the paint and scored 10 points off the Storms turnovers. The score was tied twice and the lead swapped hands three times.

The race in the American Rivers Conference standings will be a battle to the end. Third place through eighth is separated by just three games with two games left. UD sits in fourth with a 7-7 league mark and will host Luther College on February. 18 and Nebraska Wesleyan University on February. 21. BVU and Simpson trail UD by a game and Central trails by two games and Wartburg is 5-10 overall with just a game left.
