Women's Hockey Lose on the Road in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The University of Dubuque women's hockey team traveled to Milwaukee Saturday to face Milwaukee School of Engineering, closing out a weekend home and away series. Despite pulling a goal back in the second period, the Spartans fell 4-1 to the Raiders.

Natalie Meeder was the Spartan to get on the scoresheet in Milwaukee, with Zoe Cupples sliding past a defender and laying the puck off to Meeder, who had a wide-open net; the goal equalized the score at 1-1 in the second period.

UD was led by Natlaie Meeder on the night, with a goal and 10 shots, while Alexandria Simmons put four shots on goal. Simmons also had two blocked shots out of the 10 the Spartans made. Bree Hallson led the team on faceoffs, winning 10. Molly Jex played the game in goal for the Spartans, making 36 saves and allowing only three goals.

The Spartans will remain on the road as they travel to No. 7 Adrian for a two-game series. The first game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (CT) on Friday, January 23, at Arrington Ice Arena in Adrian, Mich.
