WAVERLY, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's golf team shot a 301 in the opening round at the Wartburg College Fall Invite and sit on top of the leaderboard in the 21-team tournament. UD leads the field by nine strokes and the Spartans were led by Drew Hoffer who shot an even Par 72, who is tied for 3rd place overall and is just two strokes out of medalist.

Leah Balsbaugh finished right behind Hoffer, shooting a 73 for one over par and sits in 5th place. Gracie Russell and Payton Morton sit tied for 14th place, each with a score of 78. Olivia Hines finished 102 with a score of 90. UD also has four individuals competing at the tournament, led by Kaycee Newman, who sits at 31 after scoring an 81. Jenna Albanese finished the round with an 82 (43rd Place). Elizabeth Tucker and Megan Stephens finished one stroke apart, Tucker with a 91 (108th place) and Stephens with a 92 (110th place).

Saturday's round at Prairie Links GC (Par 72, 5,629 yards) allowed just two eagles. The Invite will resume on Sunday, September 7 for the final round for 126 linksters.
