MADISON, Wis. - The University of Dubuque women's golf team finished the opening round of the UW-Whitewater Women's Fall Invite with a team score of 324 and sit in fourth place of the 17 teams 93 individual competitors at the TPC Wisconsin course. UD was led by
Leah Balsbaugh who capped off the first round with a round of 79 to tie for 12th overall.
The former Cherokee Country Club has undergone a dramatic $25+ million renovation as part of its re-branding to TPC Wisconsin in 2022. The golf course re-opened August 1st, 2023 as the 30th TPC Network Golf Club in the world: TPC Wisconsin. The course is a par 72 course - 5,680 yds. which played difficult in the warm Sunday weather with an average score of 86.6 in the first round. The course won on Sunday, never allowing an eagle in the 93 rounds played.
The Spartans continue play on Monday, Sept. 29 and will tee off at 9:00 a.m. with the grouping of UD, Illinois Wesleyan University, and Carthage College starting on hole #3.
