DUBUQUE, Iowa - For the second consecutive year the 151 derby matchup between the University of Dubuque women's soccer team and the UW-Oshkosh Titans ended in a draw on Saturday afternoon. The 151 derby trophy will stay with the Spartans for another year after winning the inaugural matchup back in 2023 and having back-to-back draws each of the last two seasons.
The Spartans got seven shots on net in the opening 45 minutes, but none was bigger than the only shot of the game from
Ava Hortillosa off passes from
Riley Trudeau and
Alyssa Tranchita to give the Spartans the 1-0 lead at the half. Hortillosa's goal is the first of her career.
In the 68th minute, the Titans were able to score the equalizer that forced the 1-1 draw. In the full 90 minutes on the pitch for the Spartans were able to dominate from start to finish. The Spartans had more attacking chances and held the shots advantage, 14-5. The Spartans also had five corner kick opportunities.
Speltz led all Spartans with four shots on goal, while Trudeau and Tranchita each added a pair.
Karissa Cruz recorded three saves in goal.
The Spartans are now 2-0-5 overall on the season.

The Spartans will be back in action on for their first conference matchup on the season when they travel to Pella, Iowa to take on the Central College Dutch. Kickoff from the Central Soccer Field is set for 12:30 p.m.
