NORMAL, Ill. - The University of Dubuque women's golf team continued their strong start to the season by ending the first day of the Illinois Wesleyan University Fall Classic in third place, just five strokes out of first place.
Gracie Russell sits tied for 2nd after shooting an even par round of 72.
Adding onto her already stellar start as a Spartan, Russell sits at even par and just one stroke out of being at the top of the leaderboard after three birdies in her opening round.Â
Leah Balsbaugh recorded two birdies and an eagle today to sit at +1 par to sit tied for sixth.
Payton Morton recorded a round of 78 (+6) and
Drew Hoffer a round of 79 (+7) to round out the scoring for the Spartans.
Kaycee Newman and
Olivia Hines each had rounds of 82 (+10).
The Spartans will be back at it for the final day of the tournament, looking to compete at the top of the leaderboard. The final day will begin with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
