Women's Golf Prepare for 2025 NCAA Division III National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  — The NCAA DIII Women's Golf Committee announced 34 teams and six individuals that will participate in the 2025 NCAA DIII women's golf championships. The University of Dubuque earned the American Rivers Conference automatic bid after winning the 2024 A-R-C Women's Championship last fall by seven shots. Twenty-five conferences have been awarded automatic qualification and the remaining nine teams were selected on an at-large basis from conferences and the independent institutions. Six individuals, not from selected teams, also were selected for the championships.

The NCAA DIII Women's Golf Championships include team and individual play over 72 holes. After 36 holes, the field is cut to the top 15 teams and the top six individuals not on those teams. Each team's four lowest scores count daily, with up to 176 total participants. The championships will be conducted May 13-16 at Kingsmill Resort & Spa in Williamsburg, Virginia. Christopher Newport University will serve as the host school.

"Looking forward to getting out to Kingsmill Resort and see if we can put two good rounds together and see where we stack up on a national level," commented head coach Dustin Bierman. "This will be our fifth appearance in six years, and this team has shown the ability to go low at times. We are very experienced up top with Morgan Hawkins and Leah Balsbaugh, both have won our conference individual titles the last two years and multiple other medalist titles. This team also has two very talented freshmen Drew Hoffer and Taylor Phillips, who have been great all year. This team will go compete, and they won't be afraid of the moment and that what I love about this team."

The Spartans are led by senior Mogan Hawkins (Sr., Asbury, Iowa/Hempstead, 79.3 scoring avg.) who claimed the school's fifth medalist honors in the conference championship after she fired rounds of 75-81-76 nd earned earned the title of 2024 A-R-C Most Valuable Golfer for her three-day performance. Joining her at the national championships will be teammates: Leah Balsbaugh (Jr., Sussex, Wis./Hamilton, 80.5 scoring avg.), Brianne Arzbaecher (Sr., Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect, 82.2 scoring avg.), Taylor Phillips (Fr., New London, lowa/New London, 82.4 scoring avg.), and Drew Hoffer (Fr., Oregon, Wis./Oregon, 81.9 scoring avg.).

UD is currently ranked ninth in the Central Region and 47th overall nationally with a 321.3 team scoring average in 18 total rounds of play.
