Culligan's Five Goals Propel Spartans Past Edgewood, 12-9

VERONA, Wis. - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team, led by Aidan Culligan defeated the Edgewood College Eagles 12-9 on Wednesday night at Reddan Park. 

Edgewood led 2-1 after the first 15 minutes, but a six goal second quarter by the Spartans gave them a 7-4 lead at the half. Both teams finished with five goals in the second half as the Spartans won their second NACC road game of the season by a three goal margin. 

Culligan finished with five goals and an assist to lead the Spartans, while Aiden Ennett had a pair of goals and an assist. Giovanni Silva had a goal and an assist in the win.

John Lewis was great in the faceoff circle winning 19 of the 25 attempts he took in the center circle. Nolan Nagy picked up win number five of the season with an eight save performance in goal.

The Spartans are now 6-6 overall and 5-2 in conference play.

The Spartans will face a familiar foe on Saturday when they head on the road again to face Lake Forest College at 2:00 p.m. on April 12. The Foresters and Spartans met in the last two conference championship games of the conference formerly known as the MLC.
