Men's Lacrosse Wins Overtime Thriller Against Concordia (WI)

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team won a thrilling 15-14 overtime game with the Concordia University (WI) Falcons at Oyen Field on Saturday afternoon. Sam Todd delivered the game-tying goal with 10 seconds left in regulation and the game-winner in the overtime period. 

The Spartans and Falcons went back and forth in the first half as both team had four goals each through the 20 minutes of the game. With the game knotted at 4-4, the Falcons would score four unanswered to lead 8-4 with 3:56 left in the first half. The Spartans would answer with three straight goals to end the half to trail by only a goal (8-7) at the half.

The Spartans were outscored by three goals in the third quarter as the Falcons regained the four goal lead with 15 minutes left to play. The Spartans offense exploded to open the fourth as they were able to score four goals in the first 2:20 to tie the game up at 13-all. With the Falcons up by one with seconds left in the game, Jake Sparber forced a Falcons' turnover and Todd was able to get into position to fire the game-tying goal with just 10 seconds left in regulation. 

The Spartans would enter their second overtime game of the season and would become 2-0 in such games after Todd delivered the game-winning goal against the Falcons in just 33 seconds. 

Giovanni Silva finished with a game-high six points, Todd added five points, Aidan Culligan contributed four, and Aiden Ennett had three. Nolan Nagy had 10 saves in the win. 

The Spartans improve to 5-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

The Spartans will be on the road on Wednesday, April 9 when they travel to Edgewood College to face the Eagles at 7:00 p.m.
