MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team won their sixth straight game on Wednesday night, defeating Cornell College 18-4. The Spartans earned the No. 2 seed in the NACC Men's lacrosse Tournament and will host No. 7 seed Benedictine University on Saturday from Oyen Field.
The Spartans rolled on Wednesday night at Van Metre Field putting up 18 goals against the Cornell College Rams. The Spartans led 12-0 at the half, scoring six goals in each of the first two quarters. The Rams scored their first goal of the night to open the second half, but the Spartans built their biggest lead of the game at 17-1 in the fourth quarter.
Sam Todd had a game-high seven points tonight with three goals and four assists.
Aidan Culligan had three goals and a pair of assists while the quartet of
Aiden Ennett,
Andrew Beaudoin,
Peter Schiess, and
Giovanni Silva each had three-point nights.
Kaden Gunnare scored his first collegiate goal tonight as a faceoff specialist.
Ethan Smith forced six of Cornell's 12 turnovers and collected four ground balls to lead the Spartans' defense.
Nolan Nagy got the win in goal with a 30 minute shutout, collecting three saves.
The Spartans end the regular season 10-6 overall and 9-2 in conference play. The Spartans ended the regular season on a six-game winning streak and have won nine of their last eleven games after starting the season 1-4.

The Spartans earned the No. 2 seed in the NACC Tournament and will host the No. 7 seed Benedictine University on Saturday, April 26 at Oyen Field. Game time for the first round game is set for 7:00 p.m.
