Men's Lacrosse Drops Florida Finale to Wentworth

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team dropped their final game in Florida 12-2 to Wentworth Institute of Technology at Phillip Jones Park on Thursday. 

Wentworth started off the game with four goals in the first eight minutes of the game before the Spartans defense was able to settle in. The Spartans held Wentworth without a goal for over 15 minutes of game time before they tacked on their fifth straight goal to start the game.

With two minutes left in the first half, the Spartans were able to get on the board with Sam Todd scoring the unassisted goal. Wentworth scored three more goals in the final minute and a half of the first half to go up 8-1 at the break. The Spartans allowed an additional four goals in the second half before the Spartans scored the final goal of the game as Giovanni Silva scored off an Aidan Culligan assist. 

The Spartans had 10 shots on goal in 23 shot attempts today with Silva leading the way with six shots on goal. The Spartans struggled clearing the ball today, going 15-28 and had 28 turnovers. They also couldn't convert the extra-man opportunities going 0-8. 

Nolan Nagy had a career-high 18 saves today in the loss. 

The Spartans fall to 1-3 on the season.

Due to Augsutana College (IL) postponing the March 12th home game with the Vikings, the Spartans will have 10 days off before they travel to Adrian College to take on the Bulldogs in their final non-conference game of the season on Saturday, March 15 at 1:00 p.m. (ET) / 12:00 p.m. (CT).
