ADRIAN, Mich. - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team dropped their non-conference finale on Saturday 23-7 to the Adrian College Bulldogs at Docking Stadium.
Adrian scored the first six goals of the game before three consecutive goals from
Giovanni Silva,
Peter Schiess, and
Nate Richardson cut the deficit in half through one quarter of play. It was all Adrian in the second quarter, scoring eight unanswered goals to take a 14-3 lead into the half.
Both teams scored two goals each in the third quarter as Schiess and Silva scored their second goals of the game. Schiess ended with a hat-trick on the day after an unassisted goal with 3:44 left in the game.
Cambell Smith recorded his first career point with an unassisted goal with 1:44 left in the fourth.
The Spartans won 16-33 faceoffs with
John Lewis winning a majority of them with 13 faceoff wins and picking up four ground balls.
Hayden Polakowski had a pair of caused turnovers on the defensive end for the Spartans, while
Nolan Nagy played 54 minutes in goal and recorded 10 saves.
The Spartans drop to 1-4 overall on the season.

The Spartans will open up their first ever NACC season on Thursday, March 20 at 5:30 p.m. when they travel to Appleton, Wis. to face the Lawrence University Vikings. The Vikings are a first year program for men's lacrosse.
