Men's Lacrosse Falls Short in Road Game Against MSOE

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The University of Dubuque lost their first conference game on Saturday 10-9 on the road to the Raiders of Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). 

MSOE was the first to score on a man-up opportunity in the first five minutes of the game before Sam Todd had the equalizer with 6:48 left in the first. MSOE added two more goals to open up the second quarter, scoring both just 29 seconds apart.

Peter Schiess would score his first of three goals today with 12:12 left in the second and Todd added his second goal of the day to tie the game once again at 3-3. For much of this game, the Spartans fought back to tie the game, but simply couldn't take the lead as MSOE added two goals late into the second to lead 5-3 at the half. 

Cambell Smith scored two unanswered goals in the the third quarter to tie the game for the third time on the afternoon at 5-5, but MSOE responded with a goal 17 seconds later to retake the lead.

On his second and third goals of the day, Schiess tied the game two different times. With the score knotted at 7-7, MSOE would score three unanswered goals in just over three minutes of play to gain their largest of the day at 10-7. The Spartans added two more goals in the final 3:26, but would run out of time to try and tie the game in a one goal loss. 

Schiess and Todd finished with four points each, while Smith added three points. Giovanni Silva and Aiden Ennett had two points each. On the defensive end, Hayden Polakowski had four caused turnovers and five ground balls. Ethan Smith and Jake Sparber each caused three turnovers. Nolan Nagy added 13 saves in the loss. 

The Spartans are now 4-5 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

The Spartans will be back at Oyen Field on Wednesday, April 2 at 4:00 p.m. when they host the Aurora University Spartans.
