DE PERE, Wis. - The University of Dubuque women's hockey team faced off with No. 6 St. Norbert on Friday night. The Spartans responded strong early in the match but fell 7-2 at the end of the game.
Early in the match, UD had solid chances with two back-to-back attempts saved with shots from Ava Dedrick and Natalie Post. Shortly after, the Green Nights found the breakthrough and made it 1-0 with seven minutes played. Responding strongly, the Spartans scored an impressive short-handed goal by Malia Tetreault to even the score, 12 minutes into play. At the end of the first period, UD was down 3-1.
In a quick series, the Green Knights went up 4-1 to start the second period before the Spartans responded again with an answer from Malia Tetreault to make it 4-2. Tetreault put her second goal of the game in the net with assists from Bree Hallson and Natalie Meeder.
At the game's conclusion, the puck did not fall the Spartans' way as they fell 7-2 to the No. 6-ranked team in Division III women's hockey.
Malia Tetreault led the way for UD with two goals and three shots, and Natalie Meeder had four shots and registered an assist. Bree Hallson also had an assist on the night. Natalie Post had two shots and won seven face-offs.

The Spartans will remain in De Pere, Wisconsin, to play No. 6 St. Norbert in the second of two games this weekend. The puck drop is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8, from the Cornerstone Community Center.Â
